What
Rochester Overture, a new online publication dedicated to covering arts and culture in Rochester, NY, is launching soon.
Why
Rochester has a rich arts and culture community with deep historical roots, but has experienced a significant decline in local media coverage of the arts. Media coverage is an essential part of the arts ecosystem, and this publication aims to fill that gap, covering the local arts and culture scene with focus, detail, and depth.
Who
Rochester Overture was founded by Anna Reguero, an arts and culture journalist and public musicologist with over 20 years of experience covering the arts. Rochester readers may remember Anna as the former arts reporter and music and dance critic of the Democrat and Chronicle. Anna holds degrees from the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester, and Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications. She received her PhD in critical music studies from Stony Brook University in 2022. You can learn more about Anna here. You can read her general musings on music and more at her personal Substack, Retrograde Inversions, here.
Got a tip?
Anna is always on the lookout for great stories about the arts in Rochester and in the greater region. Feel free to send her ideas.
